3D Visualisation | PT Pods
Brief:
PT Pods are a private mini gym start-up based in Hackney, London. The pods can be located, booked and accessed all by the PT Pods mobile app.
PT Pods came to us with an idea / concept of your own personal self contained gym / work out area, accessible to everyone, where you can feel comfortable about yourself, there be no body stereotypes, where you can work out in privacy. The pods themself can be located anywhere, and can be accessed at any time.

They would be constructed from steel shipping containers, spec’d out with high end gym equipment, ambient lighting, and privacy glass at the touch of a button, with classes available on a screen to watch, teach, and work out along with.
Their problem was explaining and selling their concept and making it real for businesses and property owners. With no actual product, no images, no drawings, it was near impossible.
We modelled everything from the ground up. With the supplied rough CAD drawings we constructed the containers, replacing the front steel panels with a glass front window and door. From the mood boards and notes supplied, we modelled the specific weights, kettlebells, medicine balls, and pull bars, all in various sizes and weights, and all textured to the specific requirements and models.
From this we could visualise not only the aesthetic of colour, texture and materials, but also the pods inner layout for optimal usage. Various lighting setups and scenarios inside the pod were tested including type, colour and intensity, for the internal look and feel, and everything had the ability to be quickly and easily updated, adding to or removing from. The model could then be composited into various locations from supplied images to visualise how the pods would sit and react with their surroundings.
We created a range of still 3d rendered images inside and out of the pod, on their own and in situ, and a range of short fly rounds to get a greater feel for the project. These allowed not only PT Pods but also the manufacturer to understand the look and feel.
We then took these a step further and created some motion graphics using their branding and slogans to immerse the viewer in the PT Pods ecosystem.
Through the use of 3d renderings, animations and motion graphics, securing a location was made easier and was effectively instrumental in allowing potential partners to visualise the pods in situ in the various locations. HereEast, one such partner, an innovation and technology campus situated in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Hackney, East London, was very excited by the concept and allowed PT Pods to secure a location at the start of 2022.
“Thank you to Mitchell and Gauss for your help in visualising our concept and making it a reality. We would be in a very different position without your help.” – PT Pods
