3D Animation | iMPAQ Technologies
iMPAQ TECHNOLOGIES approached us with the vision of incorporating 3D animation and motion graphics into their existing marketing materials. Additionally, iMPAQ TECHNOLOGIES sought to adapt their existing CAD models for use in high-quality 3D renders. This was done to create two sets of printed banner designs for separate trade shows.
More than just a company, iMPAQ TECHNOLOGIES is a go-to source for the ultimate bespoke solutions for cutting-edge subsea motor and control solutions. They’ve been doing this for over 25 years.
With a clear goal to evolve their existing brand, they approached us. Their vision: “To electrically power subsea equipment,” making underwater engineering not just efficient, but environmentally friendly. The key? Waving goodbye to hydraulic power.
Headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland, their passionate team is driven by a mission to redefine motor and control systems. These systems, meticulously designed and built, are tailored to each client’s specific needs. Furthermore, the company is constantly exploring new frontiers, developing innovative solutions.
Brief:
To captivate potential customers, iMPAQ required a 3D animated motion graphic. This would showcase their groundbreaking product launches: FlexPAQ, DivePAQ, LitePAQ, and RovPAQ, alongside their established PowerPAQ. However, their vision wasn’t just to present the products. They wanted an unforgettable display emphasizing how these tools radically depart from conventional subsea options. This differentiation stems from the fact that iMPAQ’s products leverage the power of electricity. The result? A more ecologically friendly, cost-effective, and operator-safe solution.
In addition to the 3D animation, two exhibition stands were needed for separate trade shows. One stand comprised of two 3m x 2.5m panels. The other, a combination of a 2m x 2.5m panel and a 3m x 2.5m panel. Crucially, the design had to incorporate one panel that could be seamlessly adapted for either trade show.
Material Selection:
After meticulously developing the concept, we explored various textures for the product models. While metal, a common choice, felt uninspired, black plastic appeared too dark, and white plastic conveyed a sterile aesthetic. Consequently, we ultimately selected glass as the primary material. Glass offered a clean, modern, and luxurious look, perfectly complementing the products and fulfilling the animation’s core concept: showcasing the internal power coursing through the tools. This, combined with a self-illuminating blue material (matching iMPAQ’s logo) for the electrical output, would effectively convey the flow of strength and power in their products.
Color Scheme:
Initially, a navy gradient was used to represent the subsea environment. However, black emerged as the final choice due to its superior ability to complement the glass material’s reflections, refractions, and glows.
Camera Movement:
To captivate viewers and reveal the product’s intricacies, we employed a variety of camera techniques. Teaser close-ups with shallow depth of field and slow pans mirrored high-end product showcases and cinematic openers, creating a sense of intrigue and grandeur. These techniques, combined with full product reveals, allowed audiences to be increasingly captivated and immersed.
Results:
The final 3D animation effectively communicated iMPAQ’s brand message and product differentiation. The animation, along with two exhibition stands, provided iMPAQ Technologies with the necessary tools to captivate audiences and generate interest in their groundbreaking subsea solutions. This project highlights our expertise in creating impactful 3D animation and motion graphics for all industrial clients, ensuring they can captivate their viewers.
